Philanthropy - An opportunity to make your mark was developed by Philanthropy Ireland to provide guidance on giving for prospective donors, professional advisors and anyone with an interest in philanthropy. Published in 2007, the guide provides a framework for giving, discusses current trends in philanthropy and provides an overview of tax and legal issues relevant to giving in Ireland.

Guide to Setting Up a Foundation in Ireland

Launched in November 2008, this Guide was developed by Philanthropy Ireland for individuals and companies that are considering establishing their own foundation. It includes information on tax and legal requirements to establishing a philanthropic organisation and obtaining charitable tax exemption.

Establishing a Venture Philanthropy Fund

This working paper captures and shares the early learning of a number of European venture philanthropy (VP) funds. Guidestar Ireland

Guidestar launched its Irish Web site in August 2008. Though the Web site is still in an early phase of development, it will likely become a leading resource for those looking for information on charities. Users can search for information on a charities activities, accounts, leadership and volunteer requirements.

MyCharity.ie

MyCharity.ie is a Web site that hosts fundraising pages for charitable organisations. You can search by name or theme and donate over the Internet.

PricewaterhouseCoopers Charitable Giving Guide

In 2008, PricewaterhouseCoopers published an updated version of its Charitable Giving Guide. The Guide provides an overview of the tax incentives available for individuals and companies donating to charitable causes.

Tax Relief on Charitable Donations

CHY2 Appropriate Certificate is available to download at the Irish Revenue Commissioners Web site. This form is to be used by PAYE tax payers to obtain relief on donations made to eligible charitable organisations.
