About the Ray Murphy Lecture Series
Supported by The Atlantic Philanthropies and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the ten-year Ray Murphy Lecture Series aims to provide a fitting memorial to one of the pioneers of Irish philanthropy, Ray Murphy. It also aims to encourage philanthropic giving in Ireland through exposure to current trends in international philanthropy and to help position Ireland as a centre of philanthropic excellence.

About Ray Murphy
Ray Murphy was one of the pioneers of Irish philanthropy. Through his work with The Atlantic Philanthropies and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, he worked in Ireland and throughout the world, supporting organisations working with disadvantaged and vulnerable people. Ray served as Chief Executive and later as a Board member of Philanthropy Ireland, as well as Chairman of Clann Credo - The Social Investment Fund.

Ray was a keen supporter of cooperation and collaboration in the philanthropy sector and beyond. He chaired the Youth Empowerment Partnership Programme (a project of the Network of European Foundations for Innovation and Cooperation) and was a member of the European Foundation Centre’s Resource Development Committee. Ray was posthumously awarded the Raymond Georis prize for Innovative Philanthropy in Europe in June 2007.
Ray was forever generous with his advice, wisdom and expertise and will be remembered as one of the philanthropic sector’s most courageous and inspirational leaders.
